World Food India is an international event hosted by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI). What sets it apart from privately run trade shows is that buyer meetings are combined with state government investment promotion, announcements on food processing policy, and participation by national governments.<\/p>\n\n

What kind of event it is<\/h2>\n

Because the event is government-hosted, the venue is lined with pavilions for each state, and every state sets out the terms of its industrial parks and subsidies to attract investment. On top of buyer meetings with food manufacturers, being able to compare where you would land if you built a plant in India is something other trade shows do not offer.<\/p>\n

The 4th edition (September 2025) drew more than 96,000 visitors from 115 countries, with 1,725 exhibitors, 23 country pavilions, and more than 28,000 B2B meetings, according to the Indian government. During the event, 26 companies signed memoranda that included investment commitments totaling 1.0204689 trillion rupees (\u20b91,02,046.89 crore, where 1 crore = 10 million rupees; about 1.73 trillion yen at around 1.7 yen to the rupee). Participation slots are often arranged through embassies and trade promotion organizations, and companies joining from Japan will go through that route as well.<\/p>\n\n

What Japanese companies can do here<\/h2>\n

For food manufacturers looking at production or a joint venture in India, it is a chance to talk directly with state government officials. The location of industrial parks, the terms for power and water, and each state's own subsidies differ greatly from state to state, so it is worth hearing them side by side in one place.<\/p>\n

If your main aim is to sell products, AAHAR and Anuga Select India, where the buyers gather, are closer to the mark. World Food India fits better as an event you attend to gather information on investment and policy.<\/p>\n\n

What to check before taking part<\/h2>\n

The organizers switched the national edition to a biennial cycle and announced on September 18, 2026 that the 5th edition will run from September 27 to 30, 2027. The regional editions that were to be held in the intervening year had their dates and venues published in May 2026, but on June 17 all four were announced as cancelled. Plans that count on a regional edition are hard to make, so check the announcements from the Ministry of Food Processing Industries each time.<\/p>\n

Registration and entry procedures for government events can change at the last minute. It is safer to check with the organizers whether an invitation or advance registration is required before you arrange travel.<\/p>\n\n
