Vitafoods India is a specialist show for supplement and functional food ingredients. It started in 2023 as the Indian edition of the Vitafoods series that has run in Europe.<\/p>\n\n

What kind of trade show it is<\/h2>\n

This is a place where sellers of ingredients hold meetings with the side that makes supplements and functional foods. The organizer lists the exhibitor categories as ingredients and raw materials, finished branded products, contract manufacturing and private label, and equipment and services. India also has operators that handle ayurvedic materials, so exhibits of botanical extracts are added to the mix.<\/p>\n

What Japanese companies can do here<\/h2>\n

For companies with functional ingredients, this is a place to pitch directly to Indian supplement manufacturers. The more an ingredient needs explaining, such as Japanese fermented ingredients or seaweed-derived ingredients, the more it is worth talking face to face.<\/p>\n

On the regulatory side, nutraceuticals are one of the five categories for which FSSAI requires registration of foreign manufacturing facilities, alongside milk and milk products, meat and meat products (including poultry, seafood, and their processed forms), egg powder, and infant food (ReFoM). Whether the plant you ship to India from falls under this registration is something to check before you settle the terms of a deal.<\/p>\n\n

What to check before exhibiting or visiting<\/h2>\n

India regulates functional claims, and wording that works in Japan does not necessarily pass there. Check the text on your packaging and explanatory materials with your local importer before you bring them in.<\/p>\n

Whether you sell as an ingredient or as a finished product changes both who you meet and what documents you need. Deciding which one you will talk about before you leave makes buyer meetings move faster.<\/p>\n\n
