Sold at a valuation far below what it had raised<\/h2>\n

In January 2021, Wingreens Farms, a snacks and sauces company, acquired Raw Pressery at a valuation of \u20b9100 crore. That was one-fifth of the valuation at its immediately preceding funding round, and founder Anuj Rakyan and the investors all exited at that point. It was the outcome after raising about 34.49 million dollars in total.<\/p>\n

The fiscal year ended March 2018, its last disclosure as a standalone company, showed revenue of \u20b932 crore against a net loss of \u20b948 crore. Cold-pressed production without heat pasteurization gives a short shelf life and has to move under refrigeration. Even in urban India the burden of the delivery network and the spoilage rate was heavy, and raising unit prices did not bring the business to profitability.<\/p>\n

Why cold-pressed is hard in India<\/h2>\n

In a market where shelf-stable fruit drinks sell for around \u20b920, this meant placing a refrigerated juice priced above \u20b9100 on the shelf. Freshness and the absence of additives alone do not easily close that price gap. The retailer stocking it also carries the waste if the product does not turn over.<\/p>\n

Chilled beverages in Japan face the same issue, but India has harsher conditions in delivery distance and temperature, so breaks in the cold chain occur more easily. For a Japanese company launching a product in India that assumes chilled distribution, this is a precedent worth checking first.<\/p>\n

Recent developments<\/h2>\n

Since coming under Wingreens World, the brand rides that group's distribution, and its presence on quick commerce has grown. Inc42's tally puts revenue for the fiscal year ended March 2025 at \u20b9154.2 crore, up 28.3% year on year. It is not stated, however, whether this figure is operating revenue or total income.<\/p>\n
