Organic milk comes with conditions starting from the feed<\/h2>\n

Organic certification for milk isn't obtained just by testing the milk itself. It requires that the feed the cows eat be organically grown, that no antibiotics or hormones be used in raising them, and that grazing and husbandry conditions be met. The certification applies to the farm itself.<\/p>\n

Indian dairy farmers are typically small-scale and normally buy feed on the open market. Going organic means rebuilding the process starting from how the feed itself is grown. Akshayakalpa maintains certification by specifying exactly how contract farmers grow their feed and managing every step from milking to shipment.<\/p>\n

It sells milk, yogurt, ghee, paneer, and more in South Indian cities such as Bengaluru and Chennai. Operating revenue for FY2025 (year ended March 2025) was about \u20b9387 crore, up about 38% year on year (total income of \u20b9392.6 crore). It has raised a cumulative $29.91 million, and an additional round of about \u20b9175 crore is reported for 2026.<\/p>\n

It's also a mechanism for raising farmers' incomes<\/h2>\n

Organic milk sells for more than regular milk. By passing that premium back to farmers, the company gets them to switch feed and change how they raise their cattle. It also states raising farmers' incomes as a goal of the business.<\/p>\n

This structure works as long as buyers can sustain the price. How many consumers in South Indian cities are willing to pay more for milk because it's organic sets the ceiling on the business.<\/p>\n

Points for Japanese companies<\/h2>\n

It's one of the few operators making certified organic dairy work in India. It's a candidate when looking for a source of organic ghee or organic butter as an ingredient.<\/p>\n

That said, organic certification standards differ by country. India's certification (India Organic\/NPOP) does not automatically carry over as Japan's Organic JAS. Before pursuing sourcing, it's necessary to first check which certification covers what scope, whether Organic JAS equivalency can be applied, and whether export-oriented lot management is in place.<\/p>\n
