Adding brands is the same as adding shelf space<\/h2>\n

Delivery apps have a display slot for each store listed. By serving under multiple brand names from a single kitchen, exposure on the app can be multiplied without adding equipment or staff. This is why EatClub runs 16 brands.<\/p>\n

It also segments customers. People wanting pizza, biryani, or an Indian-style bowl search separately. Listing each under its own name is more likely to get chosen than putting everything under one brand.<\/p>\n

On the operations side, it fills gaps across time slots. Combining a brand that peaks at lunch with one that peaks at dinner smooths out kitchen utilization.<\/p>\n

How funding has come in<\/h2>\n

Anshul Gupta and Amit Raj founded the company as Box8 in 2012. It started as a cloud kitchen focused on Indian food delivery, added brands such as Mojo Pizza, and changed its name to EatClub Brands in 2021.<\/p>\n

Tiger Global invested $40 million in November of that year, and in July 2025 A91 Partners and 360 ONE Asset Management joined a \u20b9185 crore (about $22 million) round it led again. Cumulative funding is said to be about $104 million. It has 584 employees.<\/p>\n

Points for Japanese companies<\/h2>\n

When entering the restaurant business in India, there's an option to start with delivery only, without opening a storefront. A cloud kitchen requires little upfront investment and is easy to shut down if it doesn't sell. It's a realistic way to test whether Japanese food will be accepted in urban India.<\/p>\n

That said, competition on delivery apps has become a numbers game measured in brand count. Entering with a single brand still means appearing on the same screen as a competitor with 16. If it's a test, treat it as such; for full-scale expansion, the design needs to assume multiple brands from the start.<\/p>\n

Another option is to entrust one brand to an existing operator like EatClub. Since the kitchen and delivery operations already exist, handing over a recipe and specifications makes for a fast launch.<\/p>\n
