US Intel's<\/strong> Vietnam plant (Intel Products Vietnam, IPV) marked its 20th anniversary of operation on June 12, 2026, and the company announced an additional USD 2.6 billion investment<\/strong>. This brings its cumulative investment to USD 4.1 billion<\/strong> (up from USD 1.5 billion previously). Construction on this site began in 2006 in the Saigon Hi-Tech Park (SHTP) in Ho Chi Minh City, and it has now grown into the largest back-end (assembly and test) site<\/strong> in Intel's global network, an example of a foreign investor settling in for 20 years and delivering results.<\/p>\n

It accounts for about 12%<\/strong> of Ho Chi Minh City's exports by itself. This concentration of back-end activity generates demand in surrounding industries such as test equipment, materials, components, logistics, and labor. For Japanese semiconductor-related companies, this is a realistic opportunity to enter the supply chain near an assembly-and-test cluster, and also confirms that Vietnam is a market where long-term FDI pays off. This expansion phase, driven by AI data center demand, is a reason to bring forward the timing of related investment decisions.<\/p>\n
