Samsung, Vietnam's largest FDI company, has renewed its memorandum of understanding (MoU) for 2026-2030 with northern Bac Ninh Province. Building on five years (2020-2025) of nurturing local suppliers, the new agreement expands the scope from production-improvement consulting to a deeper level of DX, covering \"smart factories\" and \"smart molds.\" Bac Ninh Province accounts for about 75% of Samsung's export value, and raising the qualification bar for local suppliers there means both a rise in the level of competitors and new collaboration opportunities for Japanese makers supplying parts within the same cluster. Why now: local suppliers have grown twelvefold<\/h2>\n

The evidence that this cooperation is paying off shows up in the trend in supplier numbers. The number of Vietnamese tier-1 and tier-2 suppliers participating in Samsung's supply chain grew about twelvefold, from 25 companies in 2014 to 306 in 2023. Tier-1 suppliers alone grew from 4 companies in 2014 to 51 by the end of 2021, while tier-2 suppliers reached 203.
