MTR is a brand that began as an eatery in Bengaluru, and it handles mixes for idli and dosa, retort curries, and spice mixes. Eastern is based in Kerala, and its mainstay is blended spices for South India.
By holding two strong brands in the single region of South India, it is set up to cover separate customer bases while sharing sourcing and plants.
It listed on November 6, 2025. The offering was not an issue of new shares but an offer for sale of ₹1,667.54 crore by parent company Orkla ASA and others. Revenue for FY2026 (fiscal year ending March 2026) was ₹2,509.14 crore, up 4.8% year on year, with net profit of ₹285.67 crore.
If you are looking for OEM production of retort curries or mixes, it is a strong candidate as a plant that can make South Indian flavors. How far it can accommodate adjustments to heat level for Japan and restrictions on ingredients has to be checked by actually putting specifications to it.
