Market entry support for food and beverage

Sales channel development in India for Japanese food and beverage

Soy sauce, confectionery, and drinks all follow the same order before they reach a shelf in India. First we have chefs and cafés in Delhi and Bengaluru try the product. If the response is good, we move on to the FSSAI license and the practical side of importing. From there we connect you with food wholesalers and supermarket buyers.

MARKET

The state of the Indian food market

These are the buyers and stores we work with on the ground, and the conditions you have to meet before selling.

01

There is a community of chefs

Delhi and Bengaluru have communities of chefs who know Asian, Western, and Indian cuisine. You can get their input through tastings and product development.

02

Importing requires an FSSAI license

To import food, the importer needs an FSSAI Central License and an Importer Exporter Code (IEC).

03

Veg/non-veg marking is required

Food containing ingredients of animal origin carries a brown mark. Milk and dairy products, honey, and similar items are excluded from the assessment, and packaged drinking water, alcoholic beverages, and some other products are outside the scope of the marking.

04

Buyers from across the country gather at trade shows

AAHAR (next held in March 2027 in New Delhi) and Anuga Select India, held in Mumbai at the end of September, are places to make contact with buyers. The dates are Trade Shows in India.
