Indian companies

We have compiled the companies that make, sell, and move food in India. Use it as material for seeing where the stores are, who the buyers are, and who you can work with.

Kwality Wall's (India) | HUL separated frozen from ambient distribution

HUL spun off its ice cream business, which launched in December 2025 and listed in February 2026. Even a major player concluded that frozen and ambient products cannot run through the same distribution setup. Who supplies the freezers is the biggest barrier in this market.

Coffee Day Enterprises (Cafe Coffee Day) | The pioneer of Indian cafés, now smaller

The first mover that established the café format in India, although its scale shrank sharply because of debt problems. FY2026 consolidated revenue was ₹1,190 crore across 424 stores. The relationship between store opening pace and cash flow is worth looking at.

Everest Food Products | 42 spice blends, and a 2024 recall

One of India's largest brands, with 42 spice blends. In 2024, its Fish Curry Masala was recalled in Singapore and Hong Kong after ethylene oxide was detected. For the Japanese market, the choice of partner will come down to their testing regime.

CG Foods India | Sidestepped Maggi with instant noodles eaten without boiling

A Nepal-origin maker that became India's third-largest instant noodle brand with "Wai Wai." FY2025 revenue was about ₹800 crore. By positioning the product to be eaten without boiling, it carved out an occasion separate from Maggi — an example of how a late entrant can find an opening.

Veeba | Brought foodservice-grade quality control straight into retail

A maker that carried the quality control of its foodservice sauces for fast food chains straight into retail mayonnaise and dips. FY2024 revenue was ₹885.2 crore, sold through about 300,000 stores. A candidate partner for developing flavors locally.

Udaan | The largest B2B e-commerce platform supplying small shops

Zepto | The 10-minute delivery quick commerce player whose revenue doubled in FY2026

A quick commerce player that grew on 10-minute delivery. FY2026 operating revenue doubled to ₹22,623.58 crore, but the net loss also widened to ₹5,905.19 crore. In December 2025 it filed for an IPO through the confidential route. For products where small packs and immediacy work, such as confectionery and drinks, it has become a channel to secure early.

Trent | The Tata Group retailer whose Zudio chain reached 1,000 stores

A Tata Group retail company whose Zudio chain reached 1,000 stores in September 2026. FY2026 consolidated revenue was ₹20,074 crore. Food is handled through a joint venture with Tesco. The winning formula on display is cutting prices and making it back on turnover.

Vishal Mega Mart | 795 stores across 535 cities, targeting lower- and middle-income shoppers outside the big cities

A hypermarket chain targeting lower- and middle-income shoppers in smaller cities. Its 795 stores cover 535 cities, with one or two stores per city, chosen to avoid competition. FY2026 consolidated revenue was ₹12,906 crore, up 20%.

Avenue Supermarts (DMart) | The discount supermarket that bought its stores and removed rent

A discount supermarket that owns most of its stores, taking rent out of its cost structure, and earns on turnover with a limited assortment. FY2026 consolidated revenue was ₹68,821 crore across 500 stores. For products that cannot compete on turnover, it is more realistic to start from a different shop floor.

Tata Starbucks | 13 years to 500 stores, and the 50-50 joint venture is still not profitable

A 50-50 joint venture between Tata and Starbucks of the United States. It passed 500 stores a little over 13 years after the first one, but it is not yet profitable. The fact that this is the timeline even with brand strength, a local partner, and in-house sourcing of raw materials is a yardstick for business planning.

Restaurant Brands Asia | Running Burger King in India and Indonesia

The operator in west and south India that rebuilt McDonald's entire lineup on the premise that it can serve neither beef nor pork. FY2026 consolidated revenue was ₹2,626 crore across 482 stores. Catering to vegetarians means capital spending that separates cooking equipment and kitchen flow.

Sapphire Foods India | Running KFC, Pizza Hut, and Taco Bell in three countries

A franchisee running 1,052 KFC and Pizza Hut outlets in three countries. FY2026 consolidated revenue was ₹3,125 crore. A merger with Devyani International was announced in January 2026.

Bisleri International | The family business that became synonymous with "water"

A family business that has become synonymous with "bottled water" in India. Its most recent disclosed full year is FY2024, with revenue of ₹2,689.69 crore and a market share of about 30%. Lending refrigerated display cases to retailers is what secures shelf space.

Reliance Consumer Products | Reliance's FMCG arm, fourth in carbonated drinks with Campa

Reliance's consumer goods company, which took fourth place in carbonated drinks with the revived Campa. FY2026 revenue was ₹22,000 crore. You can see how far the approach of cutting into established players on price and retailer margins will carry.

Sula Vineyards | Selling the region, not just the wine

A company that built a market from a country with no wine-drinking habit. It attached lodging to its winery, selling by teaching people how to drink wine along the way. FY2026 consolidated revenue was ₹556 crore, down from the previous year.

United Breweries | India's largest beer company, owner of Kingfisher

India's largest beer company and owner of Kingfisher, under Heineken. FY2026 was ₹9,240 crore net of excise duty, but on a gross basis revenue and profit both fell. It is essential for understanding alcohol distribution in India, where licenses and tax rules differ by state.

Epigamia | The D2C brand that brought Greek yogurt to India

The D2C brand that brought Greek yogurt to India. It lost its founding CEO to a sudden death in December 2024 and brought in a new CEO in 2026. Selling it as a snack rather than putting it on the same shelf as homemade dahi holds lessons for Japanese dairy companies too.

Godrej Agrovet | One company spanning everything from animal feed to chicken and frozen food

A food and agriculture company under the Godrej Group. Animal feed accounts for 46% of revenue, and the company also owns the dairy brand Jersey and Godrej Tyson Foods, which became a wholly owned subsidiary in 2024.
