The two founders dropped out of Stanford University to start the business. The operating company was established in December 2020 as Kiranakart Technologies and changed its name to Zepto in April 2025.
Operating revenue for FY2026 (fiscal year ended March 2026) was ₹22,623.58 crore, double the ₹11,109.94 crore of FY2025. At the same time the net loss widened to ₹5,905.19 crore, from ₹4,699.71 crore the year before. Cumulative funding is about 2.45 billion dollars, with the most recent round in October 2025. It filed for an IPO through the confidential route in December 2025 and received an observation letter from SEBI in May 2026.
In urban India, how consumer goods sell is starting to be pulled by quick commerce. In categories where small packs and immediacy work, such as confectionery, beverages and seasonings, it has become necessary to secure this channel before conventional retail.
