Habeco (Hanoi Beer-Alcohol-Beverage Corporation) is the largest beer maker in northern Vietnam. It is known for mainstay brands such as Hanoi Beer and Truc Bach, and annual production capacity reaches 800 million liters. Denmark's Carlsberg Group holds a stake as a strategic partner.

Four companies, Heineken Vietnam, Sabeco, Habeco and Carlsberg Vietnam, account for more than 90% of Vietnam's beer market, and Habeco's strength is its solid brand power in the northern market. In August 2025 Carlsberg completed the expansion of its Phu Bai brewery in the centrally governed city of Hue (formerly Thua Thien Hue Province), doubling annual production capacity from 3.6 million hectoliters to 6 million hectoliters.

Vietnam's beer market is going through structural change as drink-driving rules tighten and health awareness rises. The shift in demand toward low-alcohol and non-alcoholic beer and toward craft beer points to an opening for Japanese beer makers.
