Catch volumes and prices for seafood move day by day, which makes it hard for a buyer to secure a steady quantity in the grade it needs. Captain Fresh has built its business on gathering fish from several ports, sorting it by grade, and shipping it in the form the buyer wants.
It continues to buy seafood processing and distribution companies in Europe and the United States to hold the downstream side.
Operating revenue for FY2025 (the year ended March 2025) was ₹3,421 crore, up 145% from ₹1,395 crore the year before. Total funding comes to about 249.65 million dollars. On the IPO, the company filed with SEBI through the confidential route in August 2025, planning a ₹1,700 crore issue of new shares. Approval from the authorities for its acquisition of the Spanish tuna processor Frime was delayed, however, so it withdrew the filing on December 24, 2025 and says it will file again once approval comes through (a refiling could not be confirmed at the time of writing).
When sourcing Indian shrimp or white fish for Japan, going through a business that can ship to a consistent grade is steadier than dealing directly with exporters in the producing areas. Because its acquisitions give it sales channels in Europe and the United States, it is also an easier counterpart to talk to about meeting Japanese specifications.
