On April 15, 2026, Vietnamese electric vehicle (EV) major VinFast launched the 7-seat electric MPV "VF MPV 7" in the Indian market. The launch price is Rs 25.49 lakh (1 lakh = 100,000 rupees) (equivalent to about 4.2 million yen / about VND 702 million / about 30,000 USD, ex-showroom price), and the company also announced it would soon introduce a fleet-oriented derivative model, "Limo Green." VinFast India CEO Tapan Ghosh stated clearly that "Limo Green will be offered cheaper than the standard model for fleet use."
The VF MPV 7 is VinFast's third EV model launched in the Indian market within a year. VinFast has risen to fifth place in EV sales volume in India since September 2025, and has entered a full-scale supply phase from its 400-acre factory in Tamil Nadu (annual capacity of 50,000 units).

Standard equipment includes a 10.1-inch infotainment system, automatic air conditioning with a PM2.5 filter, power-adjustable driver's seat, 6 airbags, hill-start assist, ABS+EBD, and an electronic parking brake. As a response to India's extreme heat and air pollution, the PM2.5 filter is a differentiating factor compared with competitors such as Mahindra's XEV 9e and Maruti's e Vitara.
Limo Green, announced at the same time, uses the same platform as the VF MPV 7 but is a fleet-only model with simplified interior trim and enhanced fleet management functions. It targets bulk deliveries to major ride-share and taxi operators in India (Uber India, Ola, BluSmart, and others). It is priced lower than the standard model, and the company announced it would go "on sale at dealers soon."
In VinFast's home country of Vietnam, its subsidiary GSM (Green and Smart Mobility) operates an electric taxi business under the Xanh SM brand, achieving rapid growth to a market share of over 40%. Limo Green is positioned as an Indian application of that model, replicating VinFast's Vietnam-born fleet EV strategy in India.
VinFast has invested 2 billion dollars (about 300 billion yen) in India, operating a 400-acre factory in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. Its annual production capacity is 50,000 units, and the current local sourcing (localization) rate is 15%. CEO Tapan Ghosh commented that "localization will be raised as we scale up," with an eye toward qualifying for India's FAME III (electric vehicle subsidy program).

| VF MPV 7 | VinFast (Vietnam) | 7 | 60.13 kWh | 517 km | 25.49 |
| XEV 9e | Mahindra (India) | 5 | 79 kWh | 656 km | 21.90–30.50 |

| Innova HyCross | Toyota (Japan / India CKD) | 7-8 | HEV only (no EV launched) | HEV equivalent | 19.99–30.95 |
In this price range, India's EVs are mostly 5-seat SUVs, and the VF MPV 7 is effectively the first purpose-built 7-seat electric MPV. The Toyota Innova HyCross overlaps in price range with 7-8 seats, but it is hybrid-only with no EV version. The VF MPV 7's segment is the "7-seater EV MPV," carving out a distinct position that captures India's large-family and carpool demand.
VinFast rose to fifth place in India's EV sales volume in September 2025, and with the launch of the VF MPV 7 in April 2026, it is moving to solidify a position behind Tata, Mahindra, MG, and BYD. As the Tamil Nadu factory comes online, the shift is progressing from imported cars to "Made in India EVs." EV adoption still remains at only about 5% of India's passenger vehicle market, but it is growing at over 40% annually, making the timing of entry favorable.
Vietnam Vingroup participates as an LP in the HCM VIF fund, and other moves like this show a structure where Vingroup's group-wide push to strengthen technology and startup investment runs in parallel with subsidiary VinFast's overseas expansion.
Maruti Suzuki's first EV, the "e Vitara," and the Toyota Innova HyCross compete in the same price range as the VF MPV 7 in the Indian market. For Japanese parts manufacturers, VinFast's policy of expanding local sourcing at its Tamil Nadu factory represents a new order opportunity. In areas such as PM2.5 air conditioning filters, in-vehicle infotainment, and lithium-ion cells, there is a strong likelihood of increased business discussions between Japanese suppliers in India and VinFast.
