Establishing Sugar Free as a substitute for sugar in India, where the diabetic population is large, is the pillar of the business. The glucose drink Glucon-D has large demand in the hot season and is strongly seasonal.
In 2019 it acquired four brands, Complan, Glucon-D, Nycil and Sampriti, from Kraft Heinz's India business, giving it both nutritional drinks and personal care.
Consolidated revenue for FY2026 (fiscal year ended March 2026) was ₹3,940 crore, up 46.4% from ₹2,691 crore in FY2025. Most of that growth, however, comes from taking the acquired Comfort Click (acquisition price about ₹2,800 crore) and Naturell (India) into consolidation. With the interest burden on the acquisition funding and the amortization of intangible assets, net income was ₹197 crore, down more than 40% from the year before.
India's diabetic population is among the largest in the world, and the market for low-sugar products and alternative sweeteners is supported by more pressing demand than in Japan. For Japanese makers of sweeteners and functional ingredients, it is worth looking at both as a buyer of ingredients and as a partner.
