Job listings on Apple's own careers site have revealed that the company is preparing a second store in the Whitefield-to-Mahadevapura area of eastern Bengaluru. Apple opened its first India stores in Mumbai (BKC) and Delhi (Saket) in April 2023, followed by Apple Hebbal, its first Bengaluru store, inside Phoenix Mall of Asia in 2025. This planned fourth store represents a strategic move into the tech corridor where India's IT industry is concentrated. Apple's annual India sales have reached a record $9 billion (roughly ¥1.4 trillion), a sign of the maturing premium consumption market.
Apple's careers portal (jobs.apple.com/en-in) lists multiple retail openings for positions based in Bengaluru, including Technical Specialist, Operations Expert, the Business Pro team, store managers, and customer support staff. Since Apple typically begins hiring and training staff several months before a new store opens, these listings are seen as a reliable signal of store preparations. The candidate location is the Whitefield-to-Mahadevapura area of eastern Bengaluru, a district dense with IT company offices.
For years, Apple relied mainly on indirect sales through resellers in the India market, but it launched its direct sales era in earnest with the simultaneous opening of its first Apple Stores in BKC (Mumbai) and Saket (Delhi) in April 2023. In 2025, it opened Apple Hebbal, its first Bengaluru store, securing access to the South India market. This planned second Bengaluru store targets the IT corridor area, said to have the highest purchasing power within the city.
Apple's annual sales in India have hit a record $9 billion, and iPhone shipment volumes have also reached a new high. India is positioned as one of the fastest-growing markets in the world for Apple.

The industry is watching three points in particular. First, the move into the Whitefield-to-Mahadevapura area follows a clear strategy of direct sales in an area dense with tech talent. Bengaluru is home to India's largest startup ecosystem and hosts a concentration of engineering campuses for multinational tech companies, making it the area with the highest demand for Apple products from both businesses and individuals. Second, there is the anchor-tenant effect that an Apple Store brings to mall development. The opening of Apple Hebbal is said to have significantly boosted foot traffic at Phoenix Mall of Asia, and COS and NEXT and other overseas brands opening stores in the same mall. Third, the number of Apple Stores in India is still extremely small compared with China (more than 50 stores). Four stores against a $9 billion market is still an early stage, and expansion to a scale of 10 to 20 stores is expected in the medium term.
Apple's planned second Bengaluru store is an important indicator for Japanese companies assessing India's premium consumption market. The fact that the world's largest company by market capitalization has grown its India business mature enough to operate multiple stores in a single city supports the case for direct sales investment in India by Japanese premium brands in electronics, automobiles, and cosmetics. In particular, Bengaluru's IT corridor area concentrates high-income, tech-savvy consumers, which is the same logic behind Nothing's flagship store opening there. Commercial facilities where an Apple Store serves as the anchor tenant are also worth considering as candidate locations for Japanese brands.
Apple's retail store expansion is bringing structural change to India's premium retail sector as a whole. Opening an Apple Store has an anchor effect that raises a mall's grade and internationalizes the brand mix of surrounding tenants. In Bengaluru's real estate market, commercial rents in the IT corridor area have risen 15 to 20% year over year, with growing demand for premium retail space cited as one factor. Competitors such as Samsung and OnePlus are also expanding their own experience-focused stores, and India's premium electronics market is shifting toward competition in "experiential retail."

Apple's preparations for a second Bengaluru store are a signal that India's premium consumption market has matured to the level of specific districts within tech cities. With only four stores against a $9 billion annual sales market, there is still substantial room for further openings. For Japanese companies, it is worth noting that the areas where Apple opens stores function as a "lighthouse" pointing to concentrations of premium consumers.
