Alongside the exhibition itself, the program combines a conference, technical workshops, master classes, and an awards ceremony. Engineers from India's craft breweries, wineries, and distilleries gather here. The 7th edition added a new pavilion for coffee and tea, extending the scope to beverages outside alcohol.
Bengaluru, the host city, has many restaurants with their own on-site breweries, and that environment shows in what is exhibited.
For companies bringing in sake, craft beer, or shochu, it is a place to meet the operators and engineers who make alcoholic drinks in India. The barrier to selling alcohol in India, however, lies less in the product itself than in the rules that differ by state.
Alcoholic drinks for consumption sit outside the GST framework, and state-level taxes and licenses determine the price. If you move ahead without deciding which state you will sell in, you can design neither the price nor the distribution route. The realistic way to use the show is as a place to find counterparts who know the situation in each state.
