Cold brew packs, drip bags and instant coffee are the main products, all designed so that a household with no brewing equipment can still drink them. Not starting by making customers buy brewing gear is what separates it from café-born brands.
Besides its own site, it has secured a wide range of selling points: Amazon and Flipkart, quick commerce services such as Blinkit, Instamart and Zepto, and shelves in mass retailers.
Revenue for FY2025 (fiscal year ended March 2025) was ₹44.3 crore, close to double the ₹22.2 crore of the year before. After a Series A in November 2021, it raised ₹15 crore in October 2023 and ₹12 crore in April 2026, bringing the cumulative total to the order of 12 million dollars.
For a Japanese coffee maker entering India, the fork in the road is whether to open cafés or to come in with products for the home. Sleepy Owl took the latter route and made winning quick commerce shelf space the priority. Offering formats that can be tried in small quantities is what made the habit stick.
