The Hon Hai (Foxconn) group has invested additional funds in its production site in northern Vietnam's Bac Ninh Province, for its production site, USD 58.32 million, and has for the first time added to its product lineup industrial humanoid robots. Following this investment, its cumulative capital contribution reaches USD 226.29 million. After the production line is set up, it is scheduled to reach full-scale operation in November 2026.
This site is a large-scale factory that manufactures 140 million mobile phones per year, and plans to produce 100 humanoid robots annually.
The capital increase is handled by Chief Expertise Limited, a Foxconn subsidiary. The production site is located in the VSIP Bac Ninh Industrial Park in Bac Ninh Province, with the main site covering 172,543 square meters and a second site covering 8,081 square meters. As of 2025, the utilization rate was about 56%, leaving room for further expansion.
The site's core business is manufacturing 140 million mobile phones per year, but in this business registration, industrial humanoid robots were listed as a product category for the first time, alongside computer peripherals, smart speakers, wearables, communication equipment, and optical equipment. The production scale is small at 100 units per year, but it lays the groundwork for Foxconn's move into robot manufacturing in Vietnam.

The plan to expand the workforce to more than 26,000 at its peak will significantly affect employment and parts procurement in Bac Ninh Province. Although the addition of humanoid robots to the product lineup is small in scale, it can be read as a sign that Vietnam is starting to be positioned not just for assembly work but as a production base for next-generation hardware. This expands trading opportunities for parts and equipment suppliers entering the northern region.
The 56% utilization rate shows that, despite peaking mobile phone demand, the site still has spare capacity. Diversifying into robots, wearables, optical equipment, and other products suggests an intent to reduce dependence on a single product. Viewed across the northern industrial parks as a whole, this is one example of the electronic parts cluster shifting from 'assembly' to 'diversified, high-value-added' production.
Foxconn's expansion of its Bac Ninh site is, in scale, an additional investment of USD 58.32 million, but it is symbolic for including a new product category, humanoid robots. As it heads toward full-scale operation in November 2026, this is a move that Japanese companies entering the electronics and machinery supply chain in northern Vietnam should also watch closely.
